Malcolm Elajuwon Alexander-Neal
Rooted in a solid foundation from Lewis Cass Technical High School in Detroit, where I was deeply engaged in the Business Management, Marketing, Services, and Technology curriculum, my journey has been a blend of rigorous academics and practical experience. Achieving a 3.857 GPA and choosing Michigan State University for its renowned Eli Broad School of Business was just the beginning, driven by its acclaimed job placement rates and accounting program’s prestige.
My leadership roles began in high school, notably as President of Business Professionals of America, where I earned national accolades. This theme of involvement and leadership continued through my participation in various clubs and was further highlighted by my acceptance into Harvard University’s summer school program, enriching my academic portfolio.
At Michigan State University, I majored in Finance and led the National Association of Black Accountants, paving my path toward a career enriched with strategic internships at KPMG, Ernst & Young, and Compuware. My pursuit of knowledge led me to Wayne State University, where I earned my Masters in Accounting, setting the stage for a career that spans both public and corporate accounting sectors.
Professional Experience
My professional journey has been diverse, from serving as a Staff Auditor at the National Futures Association to embracing a pivotal role at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Over eight years, I’ve risen to become the Union President of the National Treasury Employees Union at the CFTC, where I led a bargaining unit of 430 members. My tenure here is marked by significant achievements in compensation bargaining, enhancing telework policies, and advocating for a fair and productive workplace.
Parallel to my union leadership, my role as a Risk Analyst has been equally influential. I specialize in the financial analysis, risk assessments, and testing procedures of division clearing organizations, focusing on the audit and examination work crucial for maintaining the integrity of financial systems. This role involves assessing risk in trading Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, auditing trading companies, and developing financial audit programs to ensure compliance and efficiency. My work supports the foundational stability of our financial markets, reflecting a deep commitment to safeguarding against systemic risks.
